We called Sims Funeral Services as strangers, but at the end, we felt like family. During our journey with our Dad's illness, we knew that his time was about to end and we were going to have to make funeral arrangements for him. So after discussion with my three brothers and I, we decided to call Sims Funeral Services. My brother Ray recalled that when our parents bought the farm in 1974, our parents had used Sims Realty (which we later found out was Genie Sims' father).
The day I called Sims, I could barely utter the words because of the emotions about planning a funeral for our Dad. Toni took my call. She expressed her sympathy for our family. She answered all of my questions, agreed to send me a brochure about the services they provide for families planning a funeral for their loved one.
When I received my packet, enclosed was a handwritten note expressing her compassion for us during this time and was there for us if we needed their services.
We decided to use Sims Funeral Services for our Dad. We met with them on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021 and made all the arrangements for Dad's funeral. Each person that we encountered at Sims were so friendly, polite, compassionate and really went out of their way to take care of every detail. They explained all aspects of their services, what to expect and very detailed oriented. The service on Monday, Nov.15 2021 was beautiful. The staff was so caring and compassionate and made all of our family feel comfortable.
The video presentation that Genie put together was awesome. He took the extra step to go by our Dad's house and took a picture of his house to use in the powerpoint presentation. This added the final touch to the photos and music selection that our family chose for Dad's funeral.
During our time of sorrow, the staff at Sims Funeral Service took care of every detail to make Dad's service very special.
We had to transport Dad's body via hearse across counties to the cemetery in Corinth, KY. Nick and Shakeela transported our Dad to the cemetery. After a closing prayer and a reading, Nick had some very kind and inspiring words of love and encouragement for our family. We would highly recommend Sims Funeral Services for your loved one's service. The details that they took for our Dad's funeral went way above what we expected. You don't find that everywhere. They are kind, compassionate, friendly, sincere, sympathetic, and all the while completely professional.
Small town charm, but they made our family feel like we were the most important family in the world. Thank you, God bless. What a great family!!

On behalf of our family, we would like to say how much we appreciated all that you did during a very difficult time, when our beloved Father went to be with the Lord. We cannot tell you how deeply touched we were for your heartfelt concern for our family. We thank you for doing such a beautiful job in assisting us with the final arrangements for our Dad. Your special touches added so much to his last tribute. It is very evident that this isn't just a career for you; that you truly have the compassion and calling for helping people. The service was perfect and I was very impressed with all the great things that you did. All the ideas for the service that you provided, from the excellent video to the little touches, like the ribbon on the memorial were fantastic. The facilities were beautiful and there is no way things could have been done any better. We were so lucky to have had you help us with Mom. Harrodsburg is very fortunate to have people like you to turn to in their times of need and I cannot recommend you guys enough.
