Thomas Levi Mezick, age 78, Harrodsburg, life partner of Linda S. Freeman, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Ephraim McDowell RMC in Danville, KY. Born June 27, 1938 in Denton, MD, he was son of the late Howard and Mattie Ruth (Voshell) Mezick. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH, served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, former owner and editor of the New London Record in New London, OH, owner and editor of the Driving Digest Magazine, South Pines, NC, one of the founders of the National Drive at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, former editor of the Sandusky Register in Sandusky, OH, active in the Arabian Horse Industry, and helped re-establish the oldest sword company in the world - AMES SWORD CO in New London. The N.P. Ames Company opened its doors in 1791 at their factory at Chelmsford, Massachusetts a company that specializes in Cutlery which originally pre-dated the Revolutionary War.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Christa (Galen) Collison of Federalsburg, MD; a step-daughter, Heather (Grady) Brendle of Bristol, VA; step-son Heath White (Marianna) of New London, OH; step-son Jason White, Hilliard OH; one brother, Richard (Jennie) Mezick of Trappe, Maryland; one sister, Mary McClelland of Baltimore, Maryland; three grandchildren, Bryan Conaway of Denton, MD, Justin Conaway of Federalsburg, MD and Patrick McGuire of Norfolk, VA; one great-grandchild, Jayce Conaway of Federalsburg, MD and 8 step-grandchildren.

 A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY. There will be no visitation. Sims Funeral Services of Harrodsburg, KY is in charge of arrangements.
