William Patrick Hatchett died January 28, 2026 at the age of 73. He was the son of the late J. Emmett Hatchett and Jane Vandiver Hatchett. He graduated from Harrodsburg High School in 1970, attended Castle Heights Military Academy and Western Kentucky University. After leaving college he worked in men's apparel for Dawhare's in Lexington and Pikeville. Later, he worked for Huffmaster Services Group in Chicago and ultimately, founded Hatchett Distributing, Inc.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Hatchett Cascio, his aunt, Bonnie N. Hatchett, cousins Nimrod (Buzz) Buster, James P. (Jim) Hatchett, Anne Hatchett Tyler, Claude R. (Shug) McGaughey, Mary Hood McGaughey, Julie Hatchett Grothe, William H. (Bill) Hatchett and his close friends he greatly valued. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his loving daughter Christina Murphy.
He was a member of the Harrodsburg Methodist Church and from a young age, loved fishing, boating and eventually, living at Herrington Lake.
There will be no visitation or service at this time. A gathering of family and friends will celebrate his life at a later date.
