Virgil Lee Vanover, age 61, Middlesboro, KY, husband of Teresa King Vanover and the son of the late Quill and Anna Mae Smith Vanover, passed away on May 3, 2018 at the St. Joseph Hospital in London, KY after a brief illness. Born January 1, 1957 in Middlesboro, KY, he attended Middlesboro School, was a retired ginseng root prospector, and was notably known for his winning smile, wonderful sense of humor, his passion for life, loved to fish and enjoyed his home near the lake.
Survivors other than his wife include: a daughter Angie (Howard Cawood) Vanover and a son Lucas (Chelsey) Vanover both of Middlesboro; two step-children Brady Easter of Middlesboro and Cody Easter of Jackson, MS; four sisters Rosetta (Richard Helton) Daniels, Mary (Howard) Warwick, Alma Upton and Peggy (Amos) Hendrickson all of Middlesboro, KY; two granddaughters Tiara (Sunshine) Blackburn of Middlesboro and Haeleigh West of Middlesboro; one great granddaughters Paetin Blackburn of Pineville, KY; a special mother-in-law Betty King of Middlesboro and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by three brothers Ernest Vanover, Ben Vanover and Quill Junior Vanover.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Creech Funeral Home with Justin Warwick officiating and burial to follow in the Green Hills Memorial Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12 noon until the hour of service at the Creech Funeral Home.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, 1 Sportsmans Lane, Frankfort, KY 40601.
