Tony Allen Gowins

Tony Allen Gowins, age 79, Harrodsburg, husband of Brenda Taylor Gowins passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Harrodsburg Health Care Center in Harrodsburg. Born November 11, 1943 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Hershell Allen and Dorothy Rae (Wells) Gowins. He attended both the Cornishville and Mercer County School Systems and later became the head maintenance worker for the City of Harrodsburg Water Department. He also served as a fireman and police officer for the City of Harrodsburg. Tony was a real “handy man” of sorts because he could work on and fix just about any task that he faced. He also liked to help others in need, be with his grandchildren and was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church here in Mercer County.  

Survivors other than his wife Brenda include one son Troy (Sherri) Gowins of Harrodsburg; one brother Larry Wayne Gowins of Mt. Washington, KY; a sister Joann (Kelly) Bowman of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren Cody (Hannah) Gowins and Whitney Henry both of Harrodsburg and Travis (Bethany) Gowins of Lexington and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 PM on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro Derek Baker and Ricky Catlett with burial to follow in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. 

 Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Sims Funeral Services. 

Pallbearers are Jeff Rogers, Paul Hartman, Scott Moseley, Marvin Isham, Charlie Baker, and Robert Burgess.
