Joe Hood, 81, beloved father and husband of Harrodsburg, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Born September 16, 1942 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Everett and Dorothy (Buchanan) Hood. He enjoyed playing tennis, studying American history, visiting historic sites, and old cars. He was a 1960 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a 1963 graduate of Carson-Newman College, a 1967 graduate of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a 1975 graduate of UK Law School where he was the first law student to win both the Excellence in Brief Writing as well as Excellence in Oral Advocacy awards. He was Counsel to the Kentucky State Legislature with LRC (Legislative Research Commission) for over 30 years, a Harrodsburg City Commissioner for over 20 years, and a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Pastor for 30 years. He recently celebrated his 12th year Pastoring Perryville Christian Church, Perryville, Kentucky. He enjoyed traveling, particularly to Ontario, Canada, the Smoky Mountains, and southwest Florida.
Joe is preceded in death by one brother, David Glenn "Mickey" Hood. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Wendy Hood; two sons, Joseph Mason Hood (Harrodsburg) and Everett Lee Hood (Bowling Green), and one future daughter-in-law Alissa Leigh Woods (Bowling Green); one daughter, Jeannie Buchanan Randolph (Harrodsburg); one son-in-law, Stephen Chase Randolph (Harrodsburg); and two grandchildren, Margaret Elizabeth Hood (Harrodsburg) and Joseph Lee Hood (Harrodsburg).

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Harrodsburg Christian Church on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am followed by the service beginning at 11am. .
