Nancy Kay Coogan, age 65, Wilmore, wife of James D. Coogan, passed away at 2:19 AM on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Baptist Health in Lexington. Born June 13, 1956 in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of the late John Gilbert and Patricia B. (Lasalle) Colgan. She was a graduate of Camden New Jersey High School, obtained her master’s degree in Sign Language Education from Eastern Kentucky University and the National Technological Institute For the Deaf (NTID), was a former teacher at KSD in Danville, Jessamine County Schools and several other area school districts. She enjoyed cooking, watching Star Trek, antiquing, crafts, reading, writing and being with her family.
Survivors other than her husband include three daughters Katherine (Hunter Johns) Rose Coogan of Lancaster, Carolyn Lily Coogan of Harrodsburg and Rebekah (Eric) Folsom of Wilmore; a sister Patricia (Robert) Carver of Englewood, FL; a brother John (Kathy) Colgan of Gainesville, GA and five grandchildren Joseph Dylan Owens of Lexington, Daniel Ellis Johns of Lancaster, Silas James Owens, Lydia Grace Folsom and Isaac Samuel Folsom all of Wilmore.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am, Monday, March 28, 2022 at Sims Funeral Services by Jerry Utt. Burial will be in Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore. Visitation will be Sunday, March 27, 2022 from 2 pm until 5 pm at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are Hunter Johns, Eric Folsom, John Stamp, Bradley Cochran, Jon Tennent, and James D. Coogan.
