Merle J. Hart, Sr., age 87, Harrodsburg, husband of Charlotte Mae (McRay) Hart, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at The Willows in Harrodsburg. Born February 1, 1937 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of the late Robert and Virgie (Atkinson) Hart. He was a self-employed carpenter, enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family. Merle was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Danville where he also served as a Deacon.
Survivors other than his wife include one daughter Teresa Hart Coleman and one son Merle (Lisa) J. Hart Jr. both of Harrodsburg; one sister Geraldine (Homer) Calvert of Frankfort; five grandchildren Kristie (Michael) Lynch of Danville, M.J. (Tara) Hart of Lawrenceburg, Amy (Eric) Richards of Houston, TX, Branden (Tess) Hart of Lexington and Rachel Coleman of Harrodsburg and also ten great-grandchildren. Merle was preceded in death by his son-in-law David Coleman and two brothers Marshall Hart and Ralph Hart.
Private family graveside services and burial will be held at the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery in Danville. There will be no visitation.
