Melvin Lewis Ison, Jr.

           Melvin Lewis Ison, Jr. age 39 of Harrodsburg passed away Friday September 15, 2023 in Lexington. Born July 24, 1984 in Harrodsburg, he was the son of Liz (Allen) Ison of Harrodsburg and the late Melvin Lewis Ison Sr. He was a 2004 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, was a self-employed landscaper and enjoyed skateboarding, cooking, was very artistic and loved being with family and friends.
          Survivors other than his mother include two daughters Monica and Aliyah Ison both of Harrodsburg; one sister Kristi (Roosevelt) Blackford of Harrodsburg; one neice Haley Bradshaw and one nephew Xzavier Blackford both of Harrodsburg; two aunts Pat Linton of Harrodsburg and Penny (Davey) Logan of Lancaster; three uncles Paul (Margaret) VanDyke of Danville, Curtis Ison of Garrard Co. and Lee (Joyce) Allen of Burgin; a cousin Lamont Linton of Harrodsburg and several other cousins in Garrard County. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Cora Parks Allen, an aunt Midge Ison, an uncle Arthur Ison and a cousin Joshua Allen.
          Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday September 19, 2023 at Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg with Elder James McPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
          Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of services at the funeral home.
          Pallbearers are Arness Buford, Russell Mays, Tim Jones, Dante Logan, James Faulkner and Lamont Linton. Honorary bearers are Chris Linton, Camdon Linton, Cody Linton, Reid Martin and Roosevelt Blackford.
