Martha Ann Cunningham, age 87, wife of John Norman Cunningham, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at her home in Lawrenceburg. Born May 4, 1939, in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward and Viola (Smith) Shy. She was a graduate of the Mercer County High School and an employee at Texas Instruments in Versailles for thirty years. She was a faithful member of the Craig Chapel AME Church in Salvisa where she was the pianist for over sixty-five years. She enjoyed being with family, traveling, cooking, watching soap operas and the game show network.
Survivors, other than her husband, include a sister Ruby Meaux of Harrodsburg and a sister-in-law Rose Cunningham of Lawrenceburg. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including Tony (Kim) Rawlings, Ruth (Van) Berry, and Lisa Meaux all of Lexington; Ricardo (Frances) Meaux of Lawrenceburg, Shawn Meaux of Los Angeles, CA., Merle Cunningham Jr., Stacie (Daryn) Harvey, Jeneen Haddix and Elizabeth Cunningham all of Lawrenceburg. She was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Rawlings, three brothers-in-law, Clarence Rawlings Sr., Venus Meaux Sr. and Merle Cunningham Sr.; a sister-in-law Clifforda Moore and by nieces and nephews including Venus Meaux Jr., Myrtle Griffin, Clarence Rawlings Jr., and Darren Moore.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Monday, July 6, 2026, at Sims Funeral Services by Rev. Sherry Gay-Green. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am until the time of services.
Pallbearers are Tristan Bean, Shawn Meaux, Tony Rawlings Sr., Lance Meaux and Tony Rawlings Jr. Honorary bearers are Ernie Guthrie and Albert Davis.
