Leo Lay Obituary

Leo Daniel Lay, age 85, husband of 62 years to Doris Ann (Devine) Lay, of Willisburg, KY passed away at home on Saturday, September 5, 2020.  Leo was born in Washington County to the late Worley Cashus and Isa Mae (Adkinson) Lay. He retired from General Electric in Louisville after 25 years of service and was a member of Willisburg Baptist Church. He loved riding horses, farming and coon hunting and did so until he wasn’t able anymore. In his free time, he loved going to horse shows, truck and tractor pulls and taking a country drive. He loved his family and rarely ever missed a birthday party or baseball/softball game and he will be greatly missed standing behind the fence this fall.

Along with his wife he is survived by 3 children, Tony (Angie) Lay, Willisburg, Teresa (Scott) Price, Harrodsburg and Nina Newsome, Frankfort; 1 sister Virginia Isham of Lawrenceburg; 6 grandchildren, Jessica (Craig) Hamilton, Andrea Mudd, Laura (Jon) Loman, Daniel (Bailey) Lay, Shawn (Emily) Bryant, Heather Price, and 6 great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Hollis, Paul, Hobert, Dudley, Alvie and Frank Lay; 6 sisters, Amie Ross, Mayola Meadows, Wilma Mobley, Marylee Coker, Isabelle Coulter  and an infant baby girl, also a very special grandson in law, Steve Mudd.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 and from 11:00 am until time of services on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm at Sims Funeral Services with Bro. Jay Hatfield officiating with C.H. Christopher assisting. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Casket bearers will be Jon Loman, Shawn Bryant, Craig Hamilton, Daniel Lay, Jeffery Coulter, David Mobley, Bobby Catlett and Corey Hamilton.
