Lana Lou (Garrett) (Lester) Yates

           Lana Lou (Lester) Yates, age 66, Harrodsburg, wife of Joey Leonard Yates, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at her home. Born July 19, 1959 in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late William “Bill” Winfield and Edith Eileen "Shorty" (Sampson) Lester. She was a 1977 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and then attended the University of Kentucky. Lana was an administrative specialist and accountant for the Centerwell Home Health in Danville and the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Lexington. She enjoyed being with her family, friends and especially her grandchildren and liked playing cards. She was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church.  
          Survivors include her husband Joey Leonard Yates; four daughters Tamren Yates of Paris, KY, Kylee (David) Lockard of Lexington, DiAmber (Jason Caudill) Ford and DeNisha Ford both of Harrodsburg; two sons Joshua (Diana) Garrett of Prescott, AZ and Cory (Brittney) Garrett of Danville;  one sister Lisa Lynn (Gary) Moss of Harrodsburg; eleven grandchildren Braylen Garrett of Harrodsburg,  Olivia Garrett of Danville, Judah Garrett, Gideon Garrett, Silas Garrett and Amos Garrett all of Arizona, Garner Mitchell and Amelia Mitchell both of California, JaLeesa Caudill,  Jayceon Caudill and Zander Ford  all of Harrodsburg; a niece Bethany (Michael) Sims and two great nieces Reagan and AnaBeth Sims; mother-in-law Lynn Yates of Harrodsburg; two brothers-in-law, Melvin (Kimberley) Yates of Indianapolis, IN and Rev. Cecil (Alita) Yates of Ridgecrest, CA; four sisters-in-law Laura Phillips of Lexington, Becky Yates of Virginia Beach, VA, Bonita Trigg and Betsy Yates both of Harrodsburg. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Roy Edward Garrett.

           Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Leigh Lance and Bro. Matthew Riley.

          Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

          Pallbearers are Charlie Lawson, Michael Wells, Germaine Dunn, Braylen Garrett, Benjamin Stokes Jr. and Brandon Yates.

          Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday, September 22, 2025 from 10:00 am until time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
