Karen Lea Horton, age 79, Harrodsburg, wife of Charles Layne Horton, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington. Born February 27, 1946 in Oroville, CA, she was the daughter of the late Howard Lorin and Essie Mae (Howell) Collier. She was a graduate of Las Plumas High School in Oroville, CA, and she spent most of her life working for the former Woolworth retail store in California. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, working with crafts, including quilting and knitting. She and her husband were members of the Pentecostal religion where they served as life-long Pastors.
Survivors other than her husband include a son Dereck Layne (Monica) Horton of Harrodsburg; a daughter Kari Lynette (Joe Arthur) Allen of Palm Coast, FL; a sister Erma Jean Stewart of Oroville, CA; six grandchildren Jacob Horton, Rachel Horton, Sonia Allen, Destiny Allen, Tiffany Allen and Joseph Allen and six great grandchildren Tristan, Isabella, Blaze, McKinzie, Azazel and Izelia.
A memorial service with family and friends will be held later.
