Joe Cecil Masterson

Joe Cecil Masterson, age 91, of Stanford died February 27, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. Joe was a great father, granddaddy, father-in-law, and great granddaddy. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and was a retired employee of Ephraim McDowell Hospital in Danville. Joe loved to spend time outside in the fresh air and with his family. Joe was born in Stanford on May l7, 1929 to the late James Masterson and Mattie Mae (Penman) Masterson Wilkinson and cared for by his late stepfather Varney Wilkinson. Joe was also preceded in death by his wife Emma Anderson Masterson whom he married on September 11, 1965.

Joe is survived by one daughter, Mattie Hunter of Winston Salem, North Carolina, 3 sons, Cecil Masterson (Angela), Todd Masterson (Melissa) both of Stanford, and Jason Masterson of Lexington; eleven grandchildren Dalonda Warren, Markisha Warren, James Johnson (Ashton), Juanya Johnson (Kayla), Maryiah Masterson, Shania Masterson, Ethan Masterson, Miranda Coleman (Eric), Zachary Masterson, Deshawn Masterson and Cory Masterson; great grandchildren Tanacious Bastin, Bryce Caudill, Brooklynn Caudill, Brayden Caudill, Elijah Caudill, and Paisley Johnson. Brothers Billy Masterson of Lexington, KY, Henry Masterson of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services with Rose Penman speaking. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home .Burial will be in the Duncan Hill Cemetery in Danville with US Army Military Honors.

Pallbearers are: Vandre Logan, Juanya Johnson, James Johnson, Zachary Masterson, Deshawn Masterson and Bradley Underwood. Honorary Pallbearers are: Cory Masterson, Harvey Blackwell and Eric Blackwell.
