James Marshall Patton, age 85, Harrodsburg, widower of Mary Elizabeth Banks Patton, passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the Landmark of Danville. Born February 9, 1936 in Liberty, KY, he was the son of the late Marshall and Edith (Wilkinson) Patton. He attended Indian Creek School in Casey County, was an orderly at Haggin Memorial Hospital, a custodian at the Mercer County Bank and a self-employed farmer with a special talent of working on John Deere tractors. In his later years he liked to sit on his porch and wave to those who drove by and just loved to talk with people. He was a member of the Pine Lick Baptist Church in Middlesburg, KY.
Survivors include: two daughters Donna Jane Patton and Deidra Lee Patton both of Harrodsburg; four sisters Willamenia Crawford of Danville, Wilma Gooch of Stanford, Beulah (Henry) Horry of Romulus, MI, and Loretta Jean Patton of Yosemite; four brothers Lester (Betty) Patton of Junction City, Willis (Dorothy) Patton of Lexington, Thomas (Karen) Patton of Wayne, MI and Kenneth (Bonita) Patton of Stanford; several aunts uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Beside his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Bridgewater and two brothers Clifford Patton and Donald Ray Patton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday April 24, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by Rev. Jerry Wilkinson, Rev. Tony Gooch and Bro. Dowell Miller. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Crawford, Tony Crawford, Greg Crawford, Joshua Rider, Jerry Gooch. Honorary bearers are Dan Yates, Ezequiel Rodrigyez, Larry Henderson, Mike Sanford, and Jason Tyler.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 24, 2021 from 9:00 am until the hour of service at Sims Funeral Services.
