James Franklin "Jimmy" Parks Sr., age 69, Harrodsburg, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at the Select Special Hospital at Ephraim McDowell RMC in Danville. Born May 17, 1952 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Charles M. Parks Sr. and Christine (Fisher) Parks. He was a 1970 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served during the Viet Nam War, was a supervisor at Florida Tile and ATR, and was employed by Hitachi, Bob Allen Motor Mall, Beaumont Inn and Bright Leaf Golf Course. Jimmy loved to go to horse races and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: two daughters Coo-Ee "Toi" (Marcus) Parks Shelby of Lexington and Jai'esha Parks of Harrodsburg; two sons Terence "Terry" (Tiffany) Yeast and James "Jay" Parks Jr. both of Harrodsburg; one sister Paula Parks Mays of Harrodsburg; two brothers Charles (Robin) M. Parks Jr. of Danville Paul W. Parks of Harrodsburg; six grandchildren Trinity Yeast, Timberlynn Yeast, Teigh Yeast, Justus Parks, Aziah Overstreet and Eniyah Haygood; a special companion Cindy Conover of Harrodsburg; and a host of nieces and nephews. Other than his parents James was preceded in death by a nephew, Rodney Parks.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Monday, June 21, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by Elder J.D. Short III and Bro. Orlando Mays. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg with military honors.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Monday from 11:00 am until the time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are Anthony VanDyke, Leon VanDyke, D.K. Meaux, Brad Logan, Timothy Porter, Kevin Jones. Honorary bearers are David Yates, Gary Ellis, Ricky Helton, J.R. Taylor, Tim "T-Bone" Bess, William Griffin, Cecil Lear and Cecil Smith.
