Glennon “Boo" Royalty, age 77, Harrodsburg, widower of Betty Jean Bell Royalty, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at his home in Harrodsburg. Born August 21, 1941 in Mackville, KY, he was the son of the late Owsley Champion and Irene (Baker) Royalty. He attended both the McAfee and Cornishville Schools in Mercer Co., was an equipment operator for Hayslett Mechanical Contractors of Harrodsburg for over 50 years, a member of the Cornishville Masonic Lodge, liked to fish, play cards, work in the garden and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters: Sherry Curtsinger and Angela (Darrell) Robinson both of Harrodsburg; one son Glen C. Royalty of Allen, OK; one sister Janice Sharp of Lancaster; five grandchildren Madison Robinson, Alexandra Robinson, Michael Ryan, Dillon Royalty and Alyssa Royalty; two step grandchildren Octavia Holiday and Jacob Robinson, two great grandchildren Emily Ryan and Andrew Ryan; four step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Other than his parents and wife, “Boo” was preceded in death by three sisters, Gwen Carter, Etta Henderson and Collene Horn and by one brother Gerald Royalty.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Daniel Smith and Bro. Keith Warren. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Pallbearers are Wayne Hungate, William Madden, Mike Baker, Channing Sallee, Chris Cornish, Bret Royalty, Jeffrey Royalty and Gil Hayslett. Honorary bearers are Michael Ryan, Ricky Henderson, Larry Henderson, Bob Richmond, Don Horn, David Cummins, Bruce Sanders and Robert Lyons.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2019 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday July 10, 2019 from 8:00 am until the time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
