Gladys Katherine Gooch (Bowman), age 93, Danville, widow of Edward Leon Gooch, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Baptist Health Lexington. Born January 13, 1931 in Lexington, KY, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Gradie Belle (Shirley) Bowman. She was a graduate of West Side High School in Harrodsburg and was a “domestic goddess” for Minnie Ball Goddard and Edith Wobril. Gladys was a "pack and go" lady that loved to travel, loved flowers, puzzles, decorating her church for many occasions but above all her family came first! She was an active member of the Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin.
Survivors include one daughter Henrietta "Penny" Short of Harrodsburg; three sons Steve "Tony" Bowman and Richard (Billie) Gooch both of Lexington and Keith (Catherine) Gooch of Jacksonville, FL; a sister Mary Bowman of Louisville; one brother Fred (Charlotte) Bowman of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren Bridget (James) Brown, LaChrista Ellis, Christopher (Ceri) Simpson, Keith Edward Gooch II, Bridget Noel Gooch and Rebecca Moore; eight great-grandchildren Wynema Bell, Ellis Brown, Whitley Bell, Khalil Ellis, Sydney Brown, Aaliyah Brown, King Brown and Dallas Jackson. Gladys was preceded in death by a daughter Vivian Marie Bowman; two brothers William Morris Bowman and Dan King Bowman; five sisters Georgie Frances McKitric, Florence Terrance, Lucille Smith, Lillian Gerton and Shirley Sleet.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at Little Zion Baptist Church by Brother Barry Bowman, Bro. Chrys Jones and Bro. Phil Yates. Burial will be in Robinson Roe Cemetery in Burgin.
Pallbearers are Tony Gooch, Keith Gooch, Richard Gooch, Ellis Brown, Khalil Ellis, Christopher Simpson, James Brown and Keith Gooch II. Honorary bearers are nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 3, 2024 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm at the Little Zion Baptist Church in Burgin.
