Gerald “Jerry” Gatzke, age 79, Nicholasville, widower of Sessie Anderson Gatzke, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Danville Centre For Health and Rehabilitation. Born September 30, 1944 in Seattle, WA, he was the son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Ching) Gatzke. After high school, he served our country in the United States Navy for four years. Following his tour of duty, he began as a factory worker for Dixie Cup in Lexington. He enjoyed fishing and occupied his spare time working a Rubik’s Cube. Mr. Gatzke was a member of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his companion Kun Cha Hess of Nicholasville; a daughter Susan Gatzke (James Eric) Masters of Danville; a brother Lanny (Clarissa) Ching of Washington State; a sister-in-law Betty Sue Anderson; a brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Ruby Anderson and a grand dog "Macy" whom he cherished greatly. Jerry was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Liggett.
A private family graveside service will be conducted later at Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville with burial to follow.
