Flona “Flo” Tewmey, widow of James Tewmey, passed away Sunday, January 21. 2024 at the blessed age of 93. She was born on August 11, 1930 in Whitley County, Kentucky to the late Edna and Luther Kerr. Flo’s memory will live on for her family and friends through the many things that she loved: her best friend (and dog) Tilly, any well-stocked fishing pond, the Shiner Church of Christ in Williamsburg and Harrodsburg Church of Christ, the sight of a red bird, an early lunch at Cracker Barrel, the music of Renfro Valley, the thrill of a yard-sale treasure, multi-generational tea parties, a summer-ripe home-grown tomato, a fresh pot of coffee at midnight, a word search on a Sunday afternoon, and not letting anyone come over without feeding them, even (and maybe especially) if they just ate.
Flo is survived by four children: Jim (Teresa) Tewmey, Laura Peyton, Lora Botner (Jerry Lay), Cindy (Steve) Probus, one brother, Charles Kerr and 2 sisters, Louella Taylor and Judy Ward. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren!
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a beloved son, Mike Tewmey, a sister, Donna Kelly, a brother Clifford Kerr, son in law Benny Peyton, and three grandchildren.
Services will be officiated by her grandson, Rob Probus, at Camp Nelson Cemetery at 12:30 pm on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Pallbearers will be Michael Tewmey, Wes Tewmey, Adam Botner, Cole Tewmey, Doug Hall and Andy Baker.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Harrodsburg Church of Christ.
Arrangements are entrusted to Sims Funeral Services in Harrodsburg.
