Dottie Ray (Black) Smith, age 93, Harrodsburg, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2021 at The Willows in Harrodsburg. Born September 15, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late James Frank and Emma Riley (Norton) Black. She was a 1945 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, an employee of Broaddus Clothing Store Inc., enjoyed sewing, word puzzles, cooking, selected “designated driver” traveling around the United States with her friends and was a member of the Harrodsburg Baptist Church.
Survivors include: four daughters Phyllis (Lonnie) Campbell of Harrodsburg, Freida Trower of Louisville, Janice (Butch) Woodard and Kathy (Mike) Matherly both of Harrodsburg; one son James Edward (Karen) Smith of Spring Grove, PA; ten grandchildren Jean Bryant, Emily Lackey, Nate Trower, Caitlin Trower, Margaret Woodard, Jamie Rucker, Lyndsay Long, Brad Matherly, Matt Smith and Sarah Smith; twelve great grandchildren Baylee Lackey, Erin Lackey, Clay Bryant, Kate Bryant, Morgan Turner, Emma Rae Rucker, Caden Long, Mason Long, Sam Matherly, Rachel Matherly, Loudon Smith and Rennin Smith. Dottie was preceded in death by two brothers, William Gilbert Black and James Byford Black and four sisters Merlin Million, Beatrice Covert, Lucille Pinkston and Doris Gammon.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 pm on Monday, April 26, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Terry Morrison. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will be conducted from11:00 am until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are: Brad Matherly, Matt Smith, Brian Lackey, Mark Bryant, Casey Rucker, Ed Long, Clay Bryant, and Morgan Turner.
