David Jay Steininger, age 83 of Harrodsburg, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Born January 16, 1941 in Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Leta (Myers) Steininger. David grew up in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from Illinois College. For decades, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as Territory Sales Manager for CertainTeed serving Kentucky, surrounding states and Canada. He assisted municipalities in the development of public works water and sewer projects, pioneering PVC (polyvinyl chloride) pipe materials, as well as industrial construction and mining projects. In 1991, he was commissioned as a Kentucky Colonel for service to the community and state. David was a devoted husband and loving father, who enjoyed outdoor activities like boating, skiing, fishing, hunting, traveling and especially visits to the Steininger Family farm in Rockport, llinois.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Robin (Whaley) Steininger of Harrodsburg; three sons Brad (Lynette) Steininger of Denver, Colorado, Aaron (Setsuko Kamotani) Steininger of Alexandria, Virginia, Sean Steininger of Burgin; a daughter-in-law Jane (Morris) Steininger of Palmetto, Florida; five grandchildren Jenna, Krista, Carlene, Alexander and Amelia Steininger. He was preceded in death by one son Chad Steininger, a brother Ronald Steininger and a sister Anita Schien.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on December 7, 1:00 p.m at the Herrington Lake Pentecostal Church with Larry Holbrook officiating.
Sims Funeral Services are in charge of arrangements.
