Bobby Lee Gibson, age 74, Harrodsburg, husband of Charlene White Gibson, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born October 21, 1948 in Danville he was the son of the late Darel and Martha E. (Hall) Gibson. Bobby was a 1966 graduate of Harrodsburg High School and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion in Lawrenceburg, the VFW in Harrodsburg and a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He became a factory employee for ATR in Danville where he retired after 25 years. He then worked for Caterpillar in Danville and for Hitachi and Modine in Harrodsburg. In his spare time, he liked doing woodworking and crafts and also fishing and hunting.
Survivors other than his wife include a daughter Tammy (Everett) Spurlock of Harrodsburg; a son Scottie (Angela) Gibson of Harrodsburg; two brothers George (Connie) Gibson and Steve (Ellie) Gibson both of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, Lauren Gibson and Jordan Durham both of Harrodsburg and Matthew (Whitney) Durham of Lexington; one grandson Tyler Kiper of Harrodsburg; two sisters-in-law Mary (Mark) Durham of Harrodsburg and Regina Murray of Perryville; one brother-in-law Jamie (Regina) White of Hopkinsville and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:30 AM Monday, October 31, 2022 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Joe Smith and Bro. Paul Stratton. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville with full military rites.
Pallbearers are Travis Gray, Brent Gibson, Derek Gibson, John Logue, Steve Bowman, and Jacob Durham. Bobby’s grandchildren will serve as honorary bearers.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 30, 2022 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday, October 31, 2022 from 8:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Sims Funeral Services.
