Bobby Gene Burchett, age 83, of Harrodsburg, husband of 61 years to Betty (Bugg) Burchett, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell - James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born December 3, 1937 in Mitchellsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Clarence and Annie (Sandbrooks) Burchett. He was a certified welder having worked 37 years for Hayslett Mechanical Contractors of Harrodsburg. He enjoyed feeding turkeys and deer, riding on his tractor mowing grass, was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge # 28 in Danville, member of the Order of the Eastern Star-Harrodsburg Chapter, and a member of the Oleika Shriners Club in Lexington. Bobby was also a member of the Benton Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than his wife include: two daughters Sherri (Bobby) Cocanougher and Sheila (David) Best both of Harrodsburg; one son Brad Burchett of Harrodsburg; seven grandchildren Jackson Burchett, Savannah Burchett, Shelby Burchett, Kaylynn (Michael) Rothacker, Cristina Cocanougher, Robert Leon Clifford Cocanougher all of Harrodsburg and Kelsey (Andreas) Willems of Washington, DC; one great grandchild Gabriel Rothacker of Harrodsburg; two half-brothers Joe and Tom Burchett both of Junction City; two half-sisters Barbara Lively of Junction City and Rose Pike of Danville. Bobby was preceded in death by a son Chad Coyle Burchett, a brother Clarence Burchett Jr. and a sister Alice Carver.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, October 25, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by David Best and Bro. Monty Carney. Burial will be in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 24, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm followed by Masonic Services starting at 7:00 pm. Visitation also on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 8:00 am until time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are Jackson Burchett, Robert Leon Clifford Cocanougher, Andreas Willems, Michael Rothacker, William Graves, Richie Bottoms, and Bobby Cocanougher.
Honorary bearers are Members of Bobby's Sunday School Class at Benton Baptist Church, Shelby Burchett, Savannah Burchett, Kelsey Willems, Kaylynn Rothacker, Cristina Cocanougher and Gabriel Rothacker.
