Barbara Covey Obituary

Barbara Jean Covey, 91, of Harrodsburg formerly of Valparaiso, IN widower of Dr. Thomas James Covey and the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Mary Frances (Headington) LaHue passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022 at the Willows in Harrodsburg. Born July 14, 1931 in the Bronx, New York, Barbara graduated from Lake Bluff (IL) High School and Butler University with a degree in music after attending DePauw University for three years. She was an accomplished pianist, ballroom dancer, designer, gourmet chef, and nurse. Barbara was a connoisseur of beauty in many forms – music, literature, the arts, fashion, trees, flowers, her garden, and all of nature. She loved her family, dogs, birds, Indiana, and the word of God. Thank you for teaching us. Thank you for nourishing us. Thank you, dear mother, for loving us.

Barbara is survived by a son Gregory Thomas Covey and daughter-in-law Lori Lynn Hartmann of Danville; grandchildren Lindsey Lewis, Kyle (Allison) Lewis, Annalise Covey, Malik Mahmud, and Torrin Acker; a great-grandson Mateo Pabon. Other than her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Richard Foster LaHue, a sister Judith Anne (LaHue) Jens, and daughters Jennifer Ann (Covey) Adams and Lorene Patricia Covey.
