Anthony Wayne "Tony" Sexton, age 75, Harrodsburg, husband of Cheryl Anne (King) Sexton, passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at UK Albert B. Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born May 1, 1948 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was the son of the late Frank and Jean (Carr) Dearinger Sexton. He was a 1966 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, attended the University of Kentucky, was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam War in Korea, was a control room employee for Kentucky Utilities Co., Dix Dam Hydro Plant, was an avid writer having written two books: “Scraps” and “Musings” and he also enjoyed gardening.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters Maggie (Toby) Hurst of Harrodsburg and Persis (Daniel) Ormond of Nicholasville; two sons Russell (Cristita) Sexton of Perryville and Neil (Kim) Sexton of Lexington; two sisters Patty (Johnny) Rawlings and Staddie Jane Dearinger both of Harrodsburg; ten grandchildren Autumn Salvia of Frankfort, Dawson Hurst and Lacy Hurst both of Harrodsburg, Lilliana Ormond of Nicholasville, Hayden Sexton of Lexington, Hannah Hightower of Harrodsburg, Jaxon Sexton and Kaya Sexton both of Perryville, Adelyn Ormond of Nicholasville and Harlan Anthony Sexton of Harrodsburg. Tony was preceded in death by a son Michael Salvia, a brother Frank Meredith, a sister Ann Dearinger and a grandchild Paisleigh Hurst.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Sims Funeral Services by Terry Clark, Russell Sexton, Maggie Hurst and David Kirkpatrick. Following the service a private family graveside service with US Army military honors and burial will be held in the Shawnee Run Baptist Church Cemetery, 2542 Shakertown Road in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are Russell Sexton, Neil Sexton, Daniel Ormond, Toby Hurst, Terry Clark, and Brandon Goins.
