Albert L. "Tina" Mitchell, age 74, Harrodsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born November 23, 1947 in Lexington, KY, he was the son of the late Albert Mitchell and Price Taylor Gentry Smith. He was a 1966 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, a retired Vietnam Marine Corps Veteran where he was a recipient of a “Purple Heart”, a National Defense Service Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal, and a Vietnam Campaign Medal. He liked to watch TV and play solitaire, was a small jobs contractor and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church on Broadway in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include: one son Yohance (Angela Campbell) Melendez of Danville; five sisters Almetra (Walter) Taylor of Harrodsburg, Debra Raines of Lexington, Angela Smith of Danville, Laura (Cornell) Hall of Houston, TX and Bernetta Thurman of Danville; three brothers John C. (Debra) Mitchell and James R. Smith both of Harrodsburg and Dale (Kia) Smith of Lexington; two grandchildren Tryce Sleet of Louisville and Jackson Pruitt of Nicholasville and by his close friend Charlotte Napier of Danville. Albert was preceded in death by three brothers Charles H. Smith, Byron L. Smith and Julius M. Smith, and one sister Irene VanDyke.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Dale Smith. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery in Nicholasville with full military rites.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 10:00 am until time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are Tyrone Green, John Mitchell, Lamont Key, Leon VanDyke, Byron Dunn, Carlos Dunn, and James Smith.
