Shirley D. Bartleson, age 83, Harrodsburg, mother of Stephanie (Jimmy) Browning of Harrodsburg, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Ephraim McDowell RMC in Danville. Born December 25, 1934 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Walter Bartleson and Viola Black, a 1952 graduate of West Side High School, a 26-year assembly line worker for the former Modine Manufacturing Co. of Harrodsburg, a Kentucky Colonel, liked to play Bingo, travel, watch UK Basketball and was a member of the St. Peter AME Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors other than her daughter include three grandchildren DeVonne (Danielle) Smith, Jessica Browning both of Harrodsburg and Azelia (Tim) Campbell of Louisville; seven great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter; three nieces Larita (Basil) Smotherman of Indianapolis, Delphine (Ricky) Chenault of Mableton, GA and Bonita Bartleson of Nicholasville; a sister-in-law Agnes Bartleson of Danville; her oldest living cousin Elizabeth Wilson Shannon of Harrodsburg; a god-sister Hannah (Glenn) Miller of Florence and a god-brother Tony Boyd of Cincinnati; two close childhood friends Rose Bryant of Harrodsburg and Claudine Garr of Danville. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Norman Bartleson.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Sims Funeral Services by Pastor William Jenkins. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 10:00 am until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are: John T. Mayes, Keith Walker, Wm. “Bo” Yeast, Josh Allen, Bruce Bowman and Michael Johnson.
