Roberta Lee (Peavler) Lay

Roberta Lee Peavler Lay, age 93, Harrodsburg, widow of William Paul Lay, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2019 at Parkview Manor in Danville. Born February 5, 1926 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mattie (Lowry) Peavler. She attended Kentucky Business College, was a clerk for the Gem Store and Joe Russell’s Drug Stores in Harrodsburg and for Spoonamore Drug in Danville. She was also a switch board operator at Kentucky State Hospital in Danville and was an Avon representative. Roberta was an outdoor person who liked gardening and working in her flowers. She was a member of the Cornishville Christian Church and attended the Magnolia Street Christian Church.

Survivors include: one daughter Linda (Tommy) Carole Peavler of Harrodsburg; a sister Anna Bernice Steele of Nicholasville; two grandchildren Troy (Julie) Peavler and Eric (Katharyn) Peavler both of Harrodsburg; five grandchildren Cass Peavler, Sadie Peavler, Lynnwood Peavler, Bowman Peavler and Ranier Peavler all of Harrodsburg; one nephew, Robert Paul Steele Jr. of Nicholasville. Roberta was preceded in death by a sister Gladys Mae Claunch.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Monday, March 4, 2019 at Sims Funeral Services by John Kesel and Larry Camic. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: Troy Peavler, Eric Peavler, Cass Peavler, Lynnwood Peavler, Bowman Peavler, and Ranier Peavler

Visitation will be Monday, March 4, 2019 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at Sims Funeral Services.
