Richard Owen Cooper
January 7, 1947 ~ November 29, 2017 (age 70) 70 Years OldRichard Owen Cooper, age 70, Salvisa, KY, husband of Kathleen Cooper, died Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born January 7, 1947 in Paducah, KY, he was the son of the late Eugene Clyde and Edith Louise (Stewart) Cooper. He was a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School in Louisville, KY, a retired machinist and welder for Holman Machinery Co. in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and was a member of the Central Baptist Church in Ft. Lauderdale. Richard moved to Ft. Lauderdale Fl. In his early 20’s and was owner of several small business and later became a custom fabricator of refrigerator systems for yachts. Upon retirement he returned to his home state of Kentucky to live in the country. Though small in stature he had the gutsy strength of the muscle cars that he loved. He always walked to the beat of his own drum and never backed down. He was beloved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors other than his wife include one son: Rickie (Tracey) Cooper of New Port Richey, FL; three sisters, Cheryl (Jim) Rago of Louisville, KY, Jeannie (Scott) Stetnichs of Windsor, MO and Celeste (Pete) Filis of Sedalia, MO; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Richard was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne Cooper.
There will be no services or visitation as the family selected cremation. Arrangements were entrusted to Sims Funeral Services of Harrodsburg, KY.
