Nellie (Downey) Bugg

Nellie Bugg, age 91, Harrodsburg, widow of Charles Clark Bugg Jr. after 73 years of marriage, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at Charleston Health Care Center in Danville. Born January 8, 1927 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Merritt and Martha Jane (Hatchell) Downey. She attended Phillips School House, was a life time housewife, the mother of two boys and a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church in Harrodsburg.

Survivors include two sons: Roy (Jeanne) D. Bugg and Kelly (Mitzi) J. Bugg both of Harrodsburg; four grandchildren Tricia Russell, Saralyn (Nick) Collier, Randy (Springe) Bugg all of Harrodsburg, KY and Clark (Beth) Bugg of Versailles, two step grandchildren Brandon (Lynsey) Lane and Kacey Lane both of Harrodsburg; nine great grandchildren Kaylee Russell; Blake Russell, Treyci Rice, Ashlee Rice, Jaxson Bugg, Carson Bugg, Byron Collier, Madi Collier, Curry Collier; five step-great grandchildren Wade Lane, Collin Lane, Cody Hamlin, Dylan Hamlin and Chloe Hamlin; and a very special cousin W.M. Alford.

Other than her parents and husband Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers Albert Downey and Everett Downey; four sisters Lilly Downey, Georgia Edwards, Anna Pearl Tyler and Eula J. Freeman; one grandson Scott Bugg and one step-great grandson Lyndon Lane.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Hopewell Baptist Church by Bro. Doug Wesley and Bro. John David Lane. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 7:30 am until 9:30 am at Sims Funeral Services and from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm at the Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in Harrodsburg.

Pallbearers are: Randy Bugg, Clark Bugg, Jaxson Bugg, Carson Bugg, Nick Collier, Byron Collier and Blake Russell. Honorary bearers are Kenny Sims, Don Stiglich, Rodney Thompson, Roy Lynn Freeman, Richard Dartt, Merritt Scott, members of Nellie’s Sunday School Class and any of the children that Mrs. Nellie raised over the years.
