Howard Thomas "Butch" Sallee Jr.

Howard Thomas "Butch" Sallee, Jr, age 60, Harrodsburg, died Sunday, January 15, 2017 at his home in Harrodsburg. Born August 27, 1956 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was son of Howard Thomas “Poppa” Sallee Sr. and the late Joyce Ann (Medley) Sallee. He was a graduate of Anderson County High School in Lawrenceburg, KY, attended BCTC, was a radio dispatcher for the City of Harrodsburg’s police department, EMS, and fire department; was a certified nurse’s assistant at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore, KY and owned and operated the Broadway Market in Lawrenceburg, KY. He was a member of the Mt. Freeman Baptist Church in Junction City, KY.  In his spare time, he liked to fish and enjoyed all types of sports.

Survivors besides his father include a daughter, Shannon (Ernie) Hopkins of Harrodsburg, KY and a son, Johnny (Dana) Ashburn of Lawrenceburg, KY; one sister, Susan Readnower of Harrodsburg, KY and ten grandchildren, Lee Hopkins, Ethan Hopkins and Eastin Hopkins all of Harrodsburg, KY, Tristin Ashburn of Lexington, KY, Trintin Ashburn of Danville, KY, Katey Ashburn and Kyle Ashburn of Harrodsburg, KY, Haley Adams, Sadie Adams and Lou Adams of Lawrenceburg, KY.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Sims Funeral Services by Terry Cornish. Burial will be in the Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY. Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.

Pallbearers are: Lee Hopkins, Ethan Hopkins, Tanner Readnower, Tyler Readnower, Trintin Ashburn and Tristin Ashburn. Honorary bearers are Eastin Hopkins, Taylor Readnower, Katey Ashburn, Kyle Ashburn, Haley Adams, Sadie Adams and Lou Adams.
