Edythe Ford, age 93, Danville, widow of Hubert “Buddy” Ford, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Ephraim McDowell RMC in Danville. Born March 13, 1925 in Burgin, she was the daughter of the late George Washington and Martha (King) VanArsdall was a former secretary at Jessamine Co. High School in Nicholasville, known as “Rosie the Riveter” in Detroit at the age of 18, a former choir director for the Burgin Schools, a homemaker and a member of the Burgin Christian Church for over 80 years.
Survivors include: two sons Gregory Ford of Goldsboro, NC and Russell (Delories) Ford of Lancaster, three sisters Mary Helen Adams of Lexington, Betty Montgomery of Burgin and Ruth Ann (Jimmy) Wells of Nicholasville; three sisters-in-law "Bitty" VanArsdall of Burgin, Peggy (Bill) Waggener of Burgin and Hannah Robb of Franklin, TN; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Other than her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one daughter Belinda Sullivan, one son Hubert R. Ford II, one brother George “Bud” VanArsdall and one sister Martha Lou Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. Josh Snyder. Burial will be in Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster. Visitation will be Friday, September 21 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.
Pallbearers are: Gunner Fister, Blaine Ford, Jeff Montgomery, Joe Fister, Cole Foley, and Tom VanArsdall.
