Edna Christine Baker, widow of John Baker, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC. Born July 25, 1925 in Harrodsburg, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late Ethel Mae Sandridge and James Nelson Yeast. She was a graduate of Westside High School in Harrodsburg and lived for some time in Springfield, OH and then in Sandusky, Ohio where she was employed by Phillips Manufacturing and Cedar Point. She returned to Harrodsburg where she was employed for over 30 years at Corning Glass Works before her retirement. She was well loved and always had a listening ear for those passing her front porch. She would set you straight if you were wrong with loving honesty. There will never be another like her, her quiet strength, her generosity, her love, her smile, and her wisdom. Her favorite thing to say was “Leave it in the Master’s hands”.
Survivors include five nieces, Mina Renee Yeast, Jada L. Draper, Bobbi Jo Yeast Bean, Cathy Wheat and Andrea “Sista” White, five nephews, Loveorce “Jack” Johnson, William “Bo” Yeast, Nick Yeast, George Yeast and Steve Yeast, several great nieces and nephews, Kiami Daugherty, Brandon Yates, Nathan White, Camiele White, Aaron White, Ilyssa Booker, Xavier Draper and several other relatives too numerous to mention.
Other than her parents and husband she was preceded in death two brothers James “Benny” Yeast and Francis Leroy Yeast, four sisters Sarah Martha Yeast, Mary Ella Yeast, Leona Yeast and an un-named baby girl that died at birth plus her long-time companion Joseph O’Neal of Chicago, Illinois.
