Brice D. Akers, age 82, Salvisa, husband of Faith M. Clark Akers, died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Ephraim McDowell Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born January 27, 1936 at Prater Creek in Dana, KY, he was the son of the late Farley and Ora (Akers) Akers. He attended Betsy Layne High School in Stanville, KY and was a utility worker for Columbia Gas of Lexington retiring after 38 years of service. He cherished the “Big Blue Nation”, enjoyed doing yard work, spending time with his family and was a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors other than his wife include: one daughter Oretta (Tim) Switzer of Simpsonville, KY, one son Barry (Jeri) Akers of Salvisa, one sister Magline Stalnaker of Zanesville, OH, one brother Clinton (Lucille) Akers of Nicholasville and four grandchildren Karrol Lee Switzer, Dustin Brice Switzer, Greyson Akers and Ashton McGee Cameron. He was preceded in death by five brothers Woodrow, John, Avery, Adrian and Simon Akers and two sisters Alice Akers and Marie Conn.
Funeral services will be conducted 9:00 am, Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Sims Funeral Services by Bro. John Kesel. Burial will be in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens 4915 Harrodsburg Road in Nicholasville. Pallbearers are: Barry Akers, Karrol Switzer, Dustin Switzer, Tim Switzer, Ronnie Clark, and Emmerson Hollenbaugh.
Visitation will be Monday, June 11, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 8:00 am until the time of services at Sims Funeral Services.
