Betty Mae Walker, age 96, Harrodsburg, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born November 29, 1923 in Harrodsburg, she was the daughter of the late Marion and Myrtle (Tilford) Walker. She attended West Side High School, was a self-employed domestic worker and was a member of the St. Peter AME Church in Harrodsburg.
Survivors include four daughters: Onita (James) Thurman of Harrodsburg, Carolyn S. Van Divier of Cincinnati, Sederia (Jerry) Ford and Cecelia (Wasen) Muhammad both of Harrodsburg; one son Leon (Kathryn) Van Dyke, Jr. of Harrodsburg; eleven grandchildren Kenny Lyons, Kecha Burnside, Travis VanDyke, Corey Walker, Eric Walker, and Kayla Walker all of Harrodsburg; James Lyons and Michael VanDivier both of Cincinnati, Crystal McKoy and Alicia McKoy both of Phoenix, AZ and Doug VanDyke of Danville; twenty-six great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. Other than her parents Betty was preceded in death by one daughter Jessica A. Lyons; three brothers James M. Walker, Robert M. Walker and Clarence Walker; one sister Juanita Rice and one granddaughter Lisa Ford.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the St. Peter African Methodist Episcopal Church by Rev. Kenneth Golphin. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 from 11:00 am until the time of services at the church.
Pallbearers are T.J. Burnside, Andrew Stephens, Adrian Stephens, Dakota Baldwin, Christopher Walker, and John T. Mayes. Honorary bearers are Kenny Lyons, James Lyons, Travis VanDyke, Doug VanDyke, Eric Walker and Corey Walker.
