Jack Dale Hood

Jack Dale Hood, age 67, Harrodsburg, husband of Nancy Juett Hood, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Willows Unit of the James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Born October 17, 1948 in Harrodsburg, he was a son of the late Buford Hood and Pauline Arnold (Buchanan) Hood. He was a member of Harrodsburg Baptist Church and the Glad Hand Sunday school class.  He was a retired banker and worked for many years at the former First Federal Savings and Loan Association in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, where he served as President and Chairman of the Board.  Jack was a 1966 graduate of Harrodsburg High School, where he participated as a Pioneer Mascot and band member, and a 1970 graduate of Georgetown College, where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.  He was a long-serving treasurer for the Mercer County Extension Council, was a former board member of the Rotary Club, where he was a Past President and a Paul Harris Fellow, was a member, former President, and long-time board member of the Danville Country Club, and was President and Director of the Kentucky League of Saving Institutions, was a member of the Mercer County Fair and Horse Show Board.  Jack was an avid golfer and took many golfing trips.  He was a travel enthusiast, and he loved to go fishing. 

Survivors other than his wife include: two daughters: Emily (Caleb) Bottoms of Harrodsburg, Kentucky and Katie Jones of Louisville, Kentucky; one brother, Dr. Fred (Dr. Mary Cowles) Hood of Lancaster, Kentucky; one grandchild, Mack Jones of Louisville, Kentucky and several nieces and nephews.     

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Sims Funeral Services by Brother Wayne Spivey. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be Monday, August 1, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Tuesday, August 2, 2016 from noon until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.

Pallbearers are Bruce Springate, Charlie Graves, Allen Whitenack, Dennis Holiday, Bill Wickliffe, and Genie Sims. Honorary bearers are Jackie Springate, Skeeter Reed, Teresa Noel, Sherri Sheperson, Connie Belle Jackson, Bill Johnson, and Jim Baxter.
