Floyd Thomas "Tommy" Yates, age 83, Harrodsburg, widower of Shirleen (Lay) Yates, died Saturday, September 10, 2016 at James B. Haggin Memorial Hospital in Harrodsburg. Born April 9, 1933 in Harrodsburg, KY, he was son of the late Ruel and Martha (Long) Yates. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, a former employee of IBM in Lexington, KY and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Harrodsburg, KY. He enjoyed gospel music, raising beagle hounds and attending chicken shows.

Survivors include: three daughters Kathy (Roy Lee) Pulliam, Debbie Sue Moss and Ann Thomas (Scott) Huff all of Harrodsburg, KY; one step son Penny (Judy) Derringer of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; twelve grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special person to "Poppy" and "Granny" Yates, Lynnette Batista. He was preceded in death by his step daughter, Connie Derringer, brothers, Bennie Lee Yates and Gene Yates and a half-sister, Bea Willis.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 pm, Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Sims Funeral Services by Brother Daniel Smith. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, KY with military honors.

Pallbearers are: Kelly Derringer, John Derringer, Mark Derringer, Justin Wilham, Nick Moss, Lee Thomas Moss, Shane Moss, Mason Moss, Casey Pulliam, Stephanie Miller, Marci Lawson, and Michele Yeager. Honorary bearers are: David Freeman, Dan Stoltzfus, Carlos Lester, the Senior Adult Class at the Calvary Baptist Church and the Breakfast Club at the Olde Bus Station.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 13, 2016 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Wednesday, September 14, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Sims Funeral Services.
