Bernice (Sims) Merrick

Bernice Sims Merrick, age 86, Danville, widow of George Prentis Merrick III, died Sunday, November 20, 2016 at her residence. Born November 7, 1930 in Danville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Necia (Adams) Sims. She was a self-employed beautician instructor and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include: one sister Ruby Sims Bodner of Danville, KY and one brother David Sims of Bradfordsville, KY; eight grandchildren ,Kristie (Alan) Finley, George (Jessica) Dylan Merrick, V, Jimmy Galloway, Jayme Wofford, Tracy Merrick, Natasha Galloway, Brandon Galloway, and Shelby Merrick; sixteen great-grandchildren Dustin Finley, George Parker Merrick, VI, Traicen Branham, Bryce Williams, Alyssa Merrick, Angela Crank, Amanda Benedict, Courtney Galloway, Ashlyn Galloway, Marshall Hansel, Zachery Worthington, Jordan Conley, Kayla Galloway, Haley Wofford, Lisa Wofford, and Jacob Wofford; four great-great grandchildren Miley Finley, Reagen Worthington, Aaliyah Worthington and  Addian Benedict Hogue.

She was preceded in death by two sons, George "Buddy" Merrick, IV and Robert "Bobby" Merrick; two daughters Linda Merrick Phillips and Lisa Merrick Sargent; one brother Bennie Sims; one sister Jo Anne Sims Teebs, and one grandchild Leslie Carmicle Knies.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Sims Funeral Services of Harrodsburg is in charge of arrangements.
